National Service Scheme
National Service Scheme (NSS)
National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary service program run by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of India. Its objective is to develop the spirit of social service and national consciousness among the youth. Dr. Kamna Kaushik, Program Officer of National Service Scheme Unit One of Vaish College Bhiwani, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sanjay Kumar Goyal, organized all the activities under the National Service Scheme as per the government orders and from time to time other activities were also organized as per the occasion. The NSS unit motivates the volunteers to fulfill their responsibilities towards the society and to do social service. The volunteers also did an excellent job in the socio-economic survey conducted by the Haryana government, for which the college principal was honored in a state level program. The college volunteers participate enthusiastically in the activities of NSS. An example of this is volunteer Sanjana who was honored for her active participation in NSS activities in a state level felicitation ceremony. One day camps, seven day camps, special seven day camps etc. were organized to develop leadership skills among the students. Under the Swachhata Abhiyan, a seven day camp was organized on Swachhata Hi Seva in which emphasis was laid on cleanliness of public places, garbage management, cleanliness of body-mind-environment. Under the one day camp, food items were distributed in Bal Seva Ashram and Aastha School, a health camp was organized. Three blood donation camps were organized under which 150,186,325 blood units were collected. Special seven day camp Various activities were organized as per government orders, such as-
Providing education to poor children, literacy campaign, tree plantation, water conservation, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, de-addiction rally, exhibition towards self-reliant India resolution, Karate training for self-defense, adopt Swadeshi, drive away foreign. Under the National Service Scheme, detailed lectures on contemporary topics and various types of competitions have been organized, such as: speech competition, essay competition, PPT, slogan, poster, stage management, paper reading. To awaken social consciousness, symposium, national-international seminar, national writing competition on contemporary topics, workshop etc. are organized from time to time. The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit makes commendable efforts to empower the volunteers. It provides volunteers with an opportunity for social service, leadership and social development. Participating in the programmes organised by NSS unit increases self-confidence, develops decision making ability, gives courage to face difficult situations and most importantly generates the passion for human service. Undoubtedly, the National Service Scheme unit brings about all-round development of the volunteers.
